One of the greatest highlights in every vacation is shopping. In almost every town and city, there’s a shop or a mall where you can get the local goods or shop for famous brand names. If you’re looking for the best districts of shopping in the country, you should consider going to New Jersey. This state may not be the biggest in the country, but it has some of the biggest shopping malls in the country. If you put together the square feet of the malls of this state, it will undoubtedly a huge chuck of the state. Westfield Garden State Plaza

One of the biggest in the country, this shopping mall covers almost 2 million square feet. Specifically, the mall is ranked 17th biggest mall in the country. This mall was constructed in 1957 and its latest expansion was during in 1996. The expansion was worth $200 million. Regular malls have three anchor department stores but Westfield Garden State Plaza has five, not including the number of outlet shops that you can visit.

Woodbridge Center

This mall has only two floors but its space is estimated to have a total of 1.6 million square feet. With shopping mall this big, they have five department stores that dominate the building: Fortunoff, JCPenny, Lord & Taylor, Macy’s and Spear. There are more than 200 retail outlets located in this area. With this big, people from New York go to this mall just to experience the extensive mall.

Freehold Raceway Mall

Built in 1990, the mall is one of the biggest in the state and continuous in their expansion. The latest effort of expansion is January 2007 set to be finished in November. The total length of this mall as of this writing is 1.5 million square feet. Some of the department stores in this mall are three floors while others only have two floors. There are also five other department stores in this area and at least 200 outlets.

Monmouth Mall

A little bit smaller than the Freehold Raceway Mall, Monmouth used to be an open space mall when it opened to the public in 1960. The mall was developed and was enclosed in 1975. Even though they are not as big as the other malls. Monmouth houses seven department stores and one giant theater mall (AMC Theater, Boscov’s, Burlington Coat Factory, JCPenny, Lord & Taylor, Macy’s, Macy’s Kids and Old Nay.

Willowbrook Mall

Willowbrook was opened in 1969 and has four anchors: Macy’s, Sears, Bloomingdale’s and Lords and Taylor. This two-floored mall boasts of a total area of 1.5 million square foot also with more than 200 outlets to choose from.
